AEF ❤️ OUR ALUMNI Last week, AEF and Clyde's of Gallery Place welcomed students and alumni of DC's Academies of #hospitalityandtourism, #culinaryarts, and #massmedia to our annual Alumni Celebration! To start the party off right, our alumni were treated to a professional #mocktail class and our AEF Student Board of Directors MC'ed the welcome! Thank you to NAF Manager of Alumni Engagement Susan Climan for making the trip down from New York to join us! Deep thanks to everyone at Clyde's Restaurant Group and President John McDonnell. Thank you so much for your support!

Inspiring story about Surrey Hills Grocer CEO, Ms Gek Teng Pang. What stood out for me is the message that academic excellence does not always equate to success in life. Rather the courage to face the prospect of failure and the resilience to bounce back after failure matters. Of course, clever strategies and access to opportunities are important. However, this story underscores the old adage that “Failure is the Mother of Success.” This saying seems cliche and hackneyed, but it is an important lesson that I’ve been trying to impart to my 6-year-old. It’s essential for our kids to experience some level of failure, especially in the early part of their lives when they have their parents around them as a safety net. It’s not our responsibility to shield them from these obstacles but to help them develop the skills to tackle and cope with these obstacles. #parenting #failureisthemotherofsuccess Surrey Hills Grocer CEO: ‘Doing something new is always scary but meaningful’
