One of the three main reasons we exist is to support the growth of rugby in Victoria, by gifting money to a project that our members deem worthy. The challenge we often find ourselves with is when we have three great projects and then what do we do to ensure that all three get a chance of getting off the ground? The simple answer is we have one or more great supporters of these initiatives and through their generous donations we can extend our gifting to more than one project at a time. In the last three years our target has been to fund $30k, or $10k per project per year. To date we have actually promised/funded $55k, so 4 additional projects have had assistance albeit not all at $10k. This is an amazing outcome and with a very special thanks to one benefactor in particular. Without naming this person, their generosity has helped us exceed our expectations and we hope made a lasting difference to the rugby community in Victoria. I invite the broader Victorian Community to get behind what we are striving to achieve. You can do this by engaging at any stage with us around a project that you wish to advance that grows the game of rugby here. Whilst our funding initiative is once a year, most of our projects don’t just get money from us, they get our assistance in various formats and if you asked the recipients almost all would agree. The other is to become a benefactor yourself. Our members and friends of RCV have the option to fund through our ASF account or to fund directly to a recipient’s ASF account. If we totalled 7the amount of funding drawn through our initiative by way of direct and indirect funding, i would be confident to state that it is in excess of $80k. The advantage of our ASF account is that we take donation that fit with our overall objectives to gifting of funds or we can create individual funding initiatives around a project. The later ring fences funds to go against a particular project and therefore meeting the request of a particular benefactor. You don’t have to be a member to gift funds. I hope the rugby community read and share this as we simply want to ensure that there is a healthy pipeline of worthy projects and in turn generosity of benefactors Lastly just because we can’t fund all projects does not mean that your project can’t get support, as we have access to others institutions who provide same and will gladly introduce you. In case you're scrolling, hoping more meetings get cancelled today and next week ... I've got a cool story to share! About six weeks ago I started tryouts for a boxing club. This isn't just any club. It's a club focused on personal transformation and doing good in our local community. Training culminates in an amateur boxing event in April called Battle on the Bricks. More than 3,000 people attended last year, so this is a legit event. https://www.chsboxing.com/ Since tryouts began, I've jumped rope for more than 400 minutes and thrown 1000s of jabs, crosses, and hooks. And, I'm proud to share that I made the team!! I can hang with competitors who are 10-20 years younger than I am (although I think I need more recovery time 😀). Why would a successful career woman like me volunteer to get punched in the face? 1) I love boxing, 2) the personal challenge AND 3) to fundraise for amazing local charities. Our last hire has been an absolute gem to work with. I've been able to take more time to do some housekeeping and do projects long overdue. Some have more value than others, but let's be honest; there is always so much to do. It's not always about the bottom line. I said it. It's about focusing on the value of the product. The bottom line will fix itself. Lose the ego and look at the work that needs to get done. After a while, you "get it." People get you, and you get them. It's crazy to think that when you offer a product of value, people come, and people stay-they may stray, but they come back. #consistent #growing #teamwork #dreamwork

Lights, Camera, Action! 🥊 During April this year, local charity Niamh’s Next Step held a charity boxing event. Say Something Video provided them with a short documentary video of the fighters progress, from training camp to the event. The fights were also recorded for the fighters to look back on.
