MEMBER NEWS

Dear Members,

Recently, DC was proud to host its first two citywides since the pandemic began. Both Otakon (Aug. 6-8) and Awesome Con (Aug. 20-22) drew thousands of people for successful events inside the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, showcasing that DC is back and open for business. The city also welcomed March On For Voting Rights this past Saturday, an important opportunity to continue Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and advocate for social justice.

As fall approaches, upload your latest deals and discounts via the Member Extranet. Also, make sure to register for DDC’s free and in-person Marketing Outlook Meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 29 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at Capital Turnaround. We’ll present on recovery strategies and STR will share the latest hotel data. A streaming option is available.

With more destinations, attractions, restaurants and venues requiring vaccination for entry, I encourage all of my industry colleagues to get fully vaccinated if you haven’t already. Together, we can strengthen and speed up our recovery from this pandemic and stop the spread of COVID-19.
