  • Get InvolvedVolunteer for a morning, evening or full day shift March 11-12 for the DC Career and Technical Student Organization State Leadership Conference. Support workshops, skill-based competitions and career exploration opportunities for local students.

  • Check out AEF’s annual field trip, Backyard Bound. Over two days, 50 DC high school students and chaperones explored the hotel, arts and culinary aspects of the hospitality industry.

  • Last chance! Register for the Destination DC (DDC) Member Volleyball Tournament on Feb. 14. Don’t miss out on the ultimate team building activity that supports work-based learning programs for students in DC.

AEF’s flagship field trip returned this January. Over 50 students from the DC high schools’ Academies of Hospitality & Tourism, Culinary Arts and Mass Media participated in a two-day adventure across Washington, DC. Emerging professionals experienced both the consumer-facing aspects and behind-the-scenes operations of the hospitality industry, thanks to the support of these partner organizations:

DDC hosted its annual Member Open House on Jan. 23. This year, scholars from Roosevelt High School’s Academy of Culinary Arts showcased their culinary skills with a dedicated tasting area, while students from Ballou High School and Coolidge High School Academies of Mass Media captured memorable photos of event attendees.

Additionally, six of AEF’s Advanced Internship Program interns supported different DDC departments by greeting guests, networking with executives and sharing their experience with AEF. Thank you to everyone who joined and connected with these talented young professionals.

The annual DDC Member Volleyball Tournament returns to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on Feb. 14.
