AEF is proud to introduce the threeAdvanced Internship Program (AIP) interns for the 2023-24 school year: Nalisa Jacobs (Ballou ’24), Melany Mendez Casas (Coolidge ’24), and John “JT” Thompson (Ballou ’24). The interns will be working with AEF and Destination DC (DDC) to learn about the hospitality industry, assist with programs and events and share their experiences on AEF’s Instagram and TikTok.
Thank you to all who joined us at the DDC Member Holiday Celebration. The annual event celebrates another successful year and also provides work-based learning and professional networking opportunities for Academy students. More than 40 students welcomed guests, executed the event logistics and emceed the program.

DDC team members welcomed students from the Academy of Business at Roosevelt High School to their office to learn more about careers at a destination marketing organization.
Kraken Kourts and Skates partnered with AEF to host students and alumni for a networking party full of roller skating, pickleball and pizza.
The annual Member Volleyball Tournament at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center is Feb. 16.
